As already informed we are pleased to keep you posted that our union by the 40th anniversary on 13th February 2022.

The 40th Anniversary was commemorated with cultural and other events including International and local solidarity greetings which were translated into the local languages. The trade union representatives who are members of the National Labour Advisory council also participated and addressed the gathering with their solidarity messages.

On this day a book was launched about the Union's journey (history) of 40 years written by the famous Sri Lankan journalist Mr. Kusal Perera.

We take this opportunity to thank all the organizations who sent solidarity greetings and supported us in numerous ways.

Comrade Anton Marcus, Co-Secretary of the Association addressed the gathering after inviting guests and officials of the Association to light the lamp. He said that he had achieved victories and sometimes even had to go to jail.

The festival was graced with a meaningful stage play. Following the screening of a documentary on the association's 40 years of glorious journey, videos were sent containing greetings from international organizations.

Comrade Leslie Devendra, General Secretary of the Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya and Comrade Padmini Weerasuriya, Director of the Women's Center addressed the gathering.

Representing the Koggala, Katunayake, Biyagama, Free Trade Zones and the Northern and Eastern Provinces, the brothers and sisters addressed the gathering congratulating the 40th Anniversary.

The dramatic presentation of two European Union projects, the "Let's Speak Without Fear" project by the Association with ACTED.

A documentary was screened on the 'Let's Be Aware, Let's Organize' project and its e-Learning platform.
